Being a professor in the United States is a respected job not just because of a

high academic degree, only because of taking a responsibility as a role model

for the young generation.

在美國當教授是受人尊敬的工作，那不是只因為擁有高學位，而是因為承擔

著作為年青一代典範的責任。

As the academic value is different between Americans and the Chinese, most

Americans do not overly venerate scholars as much as the Chinese do.

由於美中人民對學術價值觀的差異，多數老美不像老中那樣過度崇拜學者。

Americans, generally speaking, admire movie and sports stars more than a

doctorate holder or even a Nobel Prize winner.

Most American parents do not push their children to get a doctorate or to be a

Nobel Prize winner as the top goal in life.

In the United States, many people treat Nobel Prize laureates like ordinary

college faculty members except they get a better salary and a free campus

The main purpose of a dissertation is to make a certain contribution to

knowledge or to society.

It seems that global skills have become an important part of American higher

education.

全球性技能似乎已成為美國高等教育的一個主要部分。

     中国人现在也不太崇拜学者了，因为他们现在说话办事，只受金钱支配，知识分子的道德良心和实事求是精神，早已荡然无存。国民党统治时期，政府虽然腐败，但知识分子尚保存着良知和尊严，经过社会主义改造，中国的专家教授，已经与政治家无异了。
